We are very excited to welcome you to the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center Web site serving the South Sacramento and Elk Grove communities. You can use this site to learn about our physicians, staff, and facilities, and also take advantage of the resources and services that are available to help you and your family take an active part in your health care. Our hospital has received the Gold Seal of Approval and three year accreditation for quality health care and safety from The Joint Commission, the national leader in health care accreditation. We have also been certified as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission.

At Kaiser Permanente, our multi-specialty physician group works in partnership with our hospitals and health plan. We feel that our unique, integrated model of care provides patients with superior quality and the highest individual service when compared to other health care systems. Kaiser Permanente consistently receives high marks for quality and service from state and national independent health care experts.

That is why we serve all of your comprehensive health care needs. Our physicians are well-trained and leaders in their fields. Many of them hold faculty positions at the University of California, Davis; University of California, San Francisco; and Stanford University School of Medicine. You can access our physicians’ home pages to learn more about them and help you select the physicians best suited for your needs.

We’re proud that more residents in South Sacramento and Elk Grove rely on Kaiser Permanente for health care than any other medical provider. We are continually expanding our services to help ensure that we meet our communities’ needs. In 2006, we opened the Latino Health Center, the first of its kind in the area, at our South Sacramento campus. This center, through the cultural competence and medical expertise of its physicians and staff, provides outstanding care for our Spanish speaking members. We also recently opened a Sports Medicine Department to help promote physical activity and physical fitness. In addition, our highly specialized teams of surgeons perform many specialized procedures, including complex vascular, thoracic and oncologic, cochlear implants, and maxillofacial surgeries.

As Elk Grove and South Sacramento continue to grow, it's critical that the residents have access to health care services in their communities. That is why we have launched a major expansion of our medical center to help ensure that quality care is available when you need it. Construction is currently underway and the project will be completed in 2010. Our expansion includes a five story tower for additional hospital beds, a new outpatient surgery center, a helipad, and a multilevel parking structure.

We are pleased to have been designated by the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors to operate an Adult Level II Trauma Center to serve the residents of the South County. We expect to provide this critical, life-saving service to our communities in 2009. As a community hospital, our emergency department - which is the busiest in south Sacramento - is open to all needing emergency care, regardless of their ability to pay or whether they are a member of Kaiser Permanente. Our $300 million expansion currently underway will enhance our ability to provide trauma care.

Our South Sacramento Medical Center is also a national leader in using sophisticated electronic medical systems to enhance the quality of care. From the emergency room to the bedside, each patient's medical information is integrated into one secure electronic record, ensuring that care teams have up-to-the-minute health data at their fingertips. Members can also go on-line to email their doctor, request prescription refills and routine appointments, view some lab results, and more for themselves and their children. To sign up, please click here.

Please browse the many features of our Web site, including our interactive tours, to become familiar with our facilities, services, and physicians.

We look forward to meeting your health care needs and helping you live well, be well, and Thrive!
