At Kaiser Permanente, our mission is to improve the health of our members and the communities we serve. For almost 60 years, we have demonstrated our commitment through our community benefit program, including providing free health care to more than 38,000 low-income children and adults in the Greater Sacramento area who participate in government subsidized health care programs. Through partnerships with community organizations, schools, and government agencies, Kaiser Permanente strives to provide health care services and health education to our community as well as promoting healthy eating and active living through grants and support of community organizations. Every year Kaiser Permanente invests funds in local community programs. In 2005, Kaiser Permanente invested $293.8 million statewide, including more than $8.6 million in grants to support approximately 700 community-based programs across the state.
